GOING BANANAS!
Take yourself back to the summer of 2020. The world was at a standstill—businesses shuttered, people lost jobs, and sports as we knew them had come to a halt. But in Savannah, something different was happening.
During the peak of the pandemic, I spent two summers with the Savannah Bananas, helping turn a small collegiate summer league team into a viral sports sensation. As a Video Intern in 2020 and later as a Creative Media Assistant in 2021, I didn’t just create video content—I played a key role in shaping the team’s digital presence. When I took over the Bananas’ TikTok account in early summer 2020, it had only a few hundred followers. By the end of my second summer, that number had skyrocketed to over 975,000, and counting. The team and its content were on CBS, USA Today, SportsCenter, and many other national media conglomerates.
The work I contributed helped transform the Bananas from a regional baseball team into one of the most talked-about brands in sports entertainment. The impact of that success is still visible today. But beyond mastering the art of fast-paced, viral content creation, I gained something even more valuable: a deep understanding of teamwork, adaptability, and purpose-driven creativity.
At the Bananas, we lived by a "Fans First" mentality—an approach that shaped not only the content we produced but also my philosophy as a creative professional. The experience taught me that the best content isn’t just about views or engagement; it’s about making people feel something special. It’s about building connections, crafting unforgettable moments, and working toward something bigger than yourself.
And that’s exactly what I bring to every team I’m part of.
A timeless classic, reimagined. What better baseball movie to recreate a scene from than The Sandlot? I couldn’t think of one. I directed, produced, and edited this video, ensuring every detail was as perfect as possible.
The first installment of a two-part series showcasing our most electrifying players, the “Wired” series became a social media sensation when Ty Jackson—mic’d up—made a diving catch right in front of his girlfriend’s parents. This behind-the-scenes access gave fans a raw, unfiltered look at the action, making it one of our most memorable and talked-about pieces.
Filmed for the local news, Savannah Bananas owner Jesse Cole took time during the pandemic to read his new book to kids. Sometimes, simplicity is key. A single, well-executed shot with a natural talent like Jesse made for a powerful piece that brought fans together, even while they were stuck at home.
Recreating the iconic Baywatch intro—Banana-style—on the stunning beaches of Tybee Island, GA. This was my first major video project with the Savannah Bananas, where I took on the crucial role of editor. In the summer of 2020, when the world needed a reason to smile, this was exactly the kind of content that delivered.
The second installment of the “Wired” series featured fan favorite Eduardo Malinowski, showcasing exactly why he holds that title. His genuine interactions with young fans and dedication to making their game-day experience unforgettable made this episode a true “Fans First” favorite.
I have a feeling George Costanza would be thoroughly impressed if he ever escaped the Seinfeld universe and stumbled into the 21st century to see this. After all, if there's one thing George knows, it’s baseball—and questionable career decisions. Whenever we had the chance to slip in a baseball reference from a classic TV moment, we took it. And broadcaster Biko Skalla absolutely nailed his role in our recreation of this iconic Seinfeld scene. It’s the closest thing to a Steinbrenner job offer he’ll ever get.
